exek sign to dfa, announce new album "prove the mountains move"
Today, we widen the tent a little bit. New blood.
Not entirely new, though. EXEK are a band from Melbourne who’ve been putting out great records for years, mostly on their own and with a few like-minded indies. Their last one was an office staple, but the new one will be an actual DFA record and our first release from an Australian artist in ages.
It’s called Prove The Mountains Move and it’s out on February 27, 2026. It arrived in our DMs in a typically EXEK-y way: “Hey there. Long shot. We recently finished our new LP. Wondering if you’d wanna check it out and consider releasing it. No prob if not.”

We pressed play on the opening track, “Sidestepping,” and were caught in a sea of chorused guitar and sideways observations. “So lose your mind or use it a lot better.” More, please.
Pre-order the album here on the shop and stream and pre-save the album via your streaming service of choice here.

We’ve also teamed up with one of our favorite shops in all the land, World Of Echo in London, to offer a special mixtape with copies of the record: “Here's proof the mountains moved: A mixtape companion to EXEK's album Prove the Mountains Move.” It’s limited to 50 copies. You can secure yours by pre-ordering the album with them here.
