YACHT - Shangri-La (Remixes) (Digital)

YACHT gets it – the world is a tough place to thrive. In the spirit of bringing a little joy to the world, their hyper funky second album, Shangri-La, has merited a rich palette of remixes that throb and pulsate amongst the apocalyptic undertones of the original record.

Bobby Birdman (who you recognize from the live incantation of YACHT), adds a few more bleeps and bloops to the feel-good title track "Shangri-La" to create a hard-edged dance number with tight synths and an irresistible drum beat. A special garage version of "Beam Me Up" raises the stakes once again, layering raw guitar riffs over hasty drums to create a textured punk melody that culminates in a meteoric burst of energy.

Norwegian producer Kim Hiorthoy slows down the tempo with an ethereal, lo-fi take on "Shangri-La," which segues perfectly into the fantasy world of Psychemagik's remix track, whose distorted vocals and undulating beats restore faith in the power of dance to heal all wounds.
